About Me

My name is Kristen. I'm a stay-at-home mom with a passion for books. I'm new to blogging, but I have always wanted to write and I love to talk about books and reading so I thought I would give this a try. (Hopefully, I don't suck too bad).

From the moment I read my first Nancy Drew book (most likely before that), I have been a bookworm. I am never without a book and I am always searching for my next great read. I love the feel of a book in my hand, the smell of a new book (or old). I love the anticipation of starting a new book, of opening the cover for the first time, the slight sigh of the spine as you do, and the discovery of what is waiting for you in those pages.  One of my favorite fantasies is curling up with a new book, a comfy blanket and a hot cup of coffee, preferably on a rainy or snowy day. (fantasy because I'm a wife and Mommy, this doesn't happen often).

As to what I read, I always turned my nose up when my best friend would suggest I read this or that "trashy romance" novel until I picked up a copy of Jennifer Crusie's "Bet Me" thinking it was a light, beachy read. I stayed up that night until 3 a.m. to finish that "trashy romance"and thus another addict of the romance novel was born.

Besides Romance, I also love to read Historical Fiction, Popular Fiction,History and to a lesser extent, Sci-Fi & Fantasy. But I am open to any book that catches my eye or interests me, regardless of the genre.

My blog is dedicated to all things books and reading. I am going to be posting reviews, reading challenges, recommendations and anything else I find interesting that applies to books. I hope you like what you find here.

  1. Kristen,

I ran across your blog and was impressed. I like the design and the content. That being said, I'm looking for folks who would want to read and review my new novel, Toe the Line, a thriller/mystery that takes place in Seattle and focuses on adventure racing and triathlons.

In Toe the Line, small business owner and triathlete, Wynn Johnston, finds his ordered, predictable life thrown into turmoil when his training and business partner, Wheeler, is murdered in the seemingly safe confines of the Seattle airport. As Wynn begins to dig into Wheeler’s past he finds out that his best friend was involved in a racing conspiracy that puts Wynn’s business and his life in danger. Wheeler’s murder forces Wynn to confront deceptive fellow racers, the potential bankruptcy of his business, and past loves he thought long dead, all while avoiding the murderer who is hunting him across Seattle.

Toe the Line is filled with engaging characters, settings in the Pacific Northwest, and a female main character and love interest who is the impetus behind the action, it provides both male and female readers with an intriguing, well-rounded, fast-paced mystery.

Let me know if you are interested. I'd love to send you a copy.

    Thanks
    Dick Hannah

  4. Thanks for the note Elizabeth! I didn't get into the Babysitter's Club, but I did enjoy a little Christopher Pike way back when! Look forward to getting to know each other :)

  5. Hi Kristen! I was wondering what your review policy was. Do you accept self-published books for review? If so, what is your preferred format?

  6. Hi Nickie,

I do accept self-published books for review. I prefer hard copies but I know it is sometimes easier for the author to send me the pdf file. I'm open to either. Do you have a book you would like me to review? If so, email me @ HomeiswheretheBookis@gmail.com
